Client is looking to create a luxury shoe/clothing line centered around black women. While designing the logo with the client, she expressed that she wanted it to be very minimal and for people to be recognize the brand off the strength of the logo itself.

Brand Font:

The typography was also important to the client. Emphasizing that she does not want this brand to be clear to one era of life. The logo and brand font should be able to withstand time. With the client also being from West Africa and wanted to build her brand there, she wanted a font that didn’t look too western. “ Minimal, Modern, African. “

We ended up choosing SACCO as the main font of the company, and RAJDHANI LIGHT as the supporting font. I felt that RAJDHANI was a good way of still keeping that modern and minimal look while SACCO brings some of her West African heritage.

Colors:

Being that her target demographic is black women, we played around with some browns and more neutral tones. The client expressed that although her focus demographic is black women she still wanted the brand to feel approachable to women of all ethnicity backgrounds.

Keeping in mind that the client expressed she wanted her brand to feel fresh, I worked on creating a few different styles of posters refraining from using a normal all black background but going for a more blue undertones.

Logo Creation:

The client’s biggest want was that brand recognition. The logo needs to be identifiable when out placed almost others. Because the brand is focused on two shades of brown, I incorporated that into the design and flipped the first B to give it an asymmetrical look.
